A win is a win is a win - few other clubs would have taken the fixture with 6 players away on North Wales duty - and none would have come away with a comprehensive win if they had.

We now have 2 free league weekends - so we've approached Dolgellau and Rossendale (near Bolton) who have free weekends for possible games on (respectively) Saturday 3rd October and Sunday 11th October.

After that comes the Rhyl fixture - and the cup game in South Wales. We need to be firming up on a settled "starting XV for the Rhyl game - (home and away, the games with Rhyl will probably settle the league title).

Good turn out please - Tuesday and Thursday....still 100% for the season after 4 games - and we haven't played well yet!

Mold Youth needs it's U17s (that's you) in numbers at training this week. We took 12 players to a XV a side game v Wrexham, and only 4 players showed for the Northwich 10s festival.

We have a game next week end - a friendly v Llangefni, and serious competitive matches the following weeks.

A number of the senior players are now playing 2nd and 1st team rugby - and if we fail to put out a full side for the Llangefni game the youth team will probably fold -

Anybody not attending club training this week will be letting down their team mates badly!

Cricket season is finished - summer is over - all back at school. I hope to see you in numbers at training on Tuesday. Seriously boys - this is the last chance, or two, we have.....

The Scarlets have let us know that they are unable to arrange the promised fixture against Burry Port - too many of their players having left for Felinfoel apparently....

Nothing to do with the fact that we've beaten Burry Port at Llanelli Wanderers festival - nor with the North Wales win over the Scarlets!

I was very pleased to witness an outstanding debut from Alex with the Youth XV today. He came on at half time with Mold behind 10-7, and was instrumental in turning the game around - with Mold running out winners 26 - 17.

Alex has probably played his way onto the bench for the Youth Cup Final.....could do with a few more of you turning up to youth training this week - Alex proved you are ready for the (small) step up a level!

Great weather, great performance (nearly...), great week end....

Thanks to everyone who made the week end such a resounding success......3 out of 4 competitions won by Mold!

Over £3,000 made by the junior section if the preliminary accounts are correct...

Wath were dispatched with style - Sion with a contender for try of the season (Yes - it's on video too!), Rhyl came and went in similar fashion. Caernarfon were a sterner test ....and we gave ourselves a few scares in that one.....and then to the final....to no one's great surprise - against the boys in blue!

I would like to say a big thank you to Bob - and all the boys at Ruthin, they were as usual a very stern test - but with depleted numbers (missing plays like Tudor and Owen will hurt anybody) today was always going to be tough for them - the longer the day went on - the more our squad numbers and ability to rotate players came into the game - we were that much fresher in the second half of the final than Ruthin....

Well done on tonight's thoroughly well deserved victory....whilst Wrexham's game plan amounted to "I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your house down" and when little piggy replied "not by the hair on my chinny chin chin" they simply didn't have any plan B.....the overall defensive effort was outstanding tonight - North East Wales divisional winners 2009, and now only one win away from being North Wales champions.....no other side in your age group has ever been that!

Festival Sunday.....then Pwllheli at Bangor next week

Jake has been selected for the Wales School "A" side to play against France, Scotland and Canada at Millfield School in April......should be back playing with us at the end of the season - Briton Ferry - Darlington and festival hopefully - maybe even a North Wales cup semi-final v Ruthin!
